Members Awarded for Leadership at the C3E Women in Clean Energy Symposium
Practitioner Network members Erica Mackey and Anya Cherneff received C3E Awards in November. The awards recognize the many approaches and strengths of U.S. based mid-career women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and accomplishments in clean energy in the U.S. and internationally.
Erica Mackey is the co-founder and COO of Off Grid Electric (OGE), a rapidly growing solar company providing decentralized Pay as You go “M-Power” energy solutions to communities in Tanzania and Rwanda that currently lack such power. Erica won C3E’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Award, which recognizes entrepreneurs who have developed and demonstrated innovative clean energy technologies or business models with the potential to drive market transformation toward clean energy.
Anya Cherneff is the Executive Director of Empower Generation, a social enterprise connecting women in Nepal with global suppliers of solar technology, empowering them to distribute clean energy solutions in their remote communities. Empower has also been focused on assisting communities affected by the Nepal earthquakes earlier in 2015. At the C3E Symposium, she was presented with the International Leadership Award for her work to develop and diffuse clean energy products and services in emerging economies toward the Sustainable Energy for All goals of increasing access, promoting efficiency, and expanding renewable generation around the world.
