Mobile for Development Utilities Innovation Fund – Call for proposals
March 12, 2015
– Original post by Mary Roach at www.gsma.com. Call for proposals close March 29.
“Over two years ago, we set out to develop an Idea Factory for solutions that leverage mobile technology to solve some of the world’s toughest infrastructure access problems. The M4D Utilities Innovation Fund provides dedicated R&D funds to innovators to develop and trial promising ideas for hundreds of millions of people living without access to energy, water or sanitation but who are increasingly living with access to the GSM network.
Overwhelmed by the demand and the quality of ideas submitted in 2013, we worked in partnership with the UK Government to increase the total support to M4D Utilities to £10M – including £5.4M dedicated to grants – and extend the programme’s timeline and scope of activities.
On December 1st 2014, we closed our most competitive call for proposals, receiving a total of 158 concept notes. Due to the stiff competition, only the most compelling proposals were selected, excluding many great ideas from passing on-to the application stage.
The next call for proposals for the M4D Utilities Innovation Fund is now open and will close on March 29th, 2015. If you are interested in applying, or re-applying, for the funds you can find more information on the Innovation Fund page on our website. We strongly encourage anyone considering applying to the Innovation Fund to take us up on our offer to provide feedback on a draft concept note.
If you have any questions, or would like to schedule a concept note clinic please do not hesitate to contact us at email@example.com.”
