Richenda’s Message – July 2015
July is an exciting month for our Practitioner Network, as we will be celebrating our four-year anniversary with two new developments:
We are delighted to announce the official launch of our new Energy Access Practitioner Network website, www.energyaccess.org. The content and functionality have been updated to represent our diverse membership’s issue areas around energy access, provide you with more user-friendly tools and resources, and showcase your collective work and impact to the broader development community. Please send us any feedback or troubleshooting requests you may have, and we thank all our members again for your contributions.
This year’s Energy Access Practitioner Network annual survey will be focusing on our members’ financing needs, as a follow up to our 2013 Investment Directory featuring funding and investment opportunities in the energy access sector. The Investment Directory served to showcase the aggregated pipeline of investment opportunities within our membership, amounting to over $250 million based on the respondents alone, and generated significant interest both on the side of companies featured and the investors interested in the sector.
This year’s version will also serve as a significant opportunity for our growing membership to showcase their successes and impact to date as well as highlight their financing needs for future growth to relevant financing entities as well as to reach scale in achieving universal energy access by 2030 – our ability to measure the progress of the Practitioner Network directly correlates to increased funding opportunities we that can be passed on to you, our practitioners. The survey was just circulated last week and will remain open until August 12 – we encourage all our member organizations to participate.
For our members delivering energy solutions that incorporate mini- and micro-grids, we have included a special segment that will help us gather valuable information specific to your needs that will be highlighted to investors relevant to your work area, as well as assist in mapping the demand side of the Clean Energy Mini-grids High Impact Opportunity (HIO) under the Sustainable Energy for All initiative.
