The Energy Access Committee Report
June 27, 2014
The SE4ALL Advisory board’s Energy Access Committee, chaired by Reema Nanavaty of SEWA, and Mr. Abdullah Al-Sarhan from Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Petroleum, worked in 2014 to develop a series of recommendations for the advisory board highlighting a number of areas for additional engagement on energy access within the broader initiative. The sub-committee met in person in April 2014 in Vienna at the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID) headquarters for a day-long strategic session that included members of the advisory board and their sherpas, invited expert practitioners and business and civil society organization representation. Deliberations focused both on electrification and clean cooking from a range of policy, business, financing and other perspectives. Representatives from both the energy access practitioner network and our sister initiative, the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves joined the discussion.
The committee developed a report with a series of 12 main recommendations which were reported back into the advisory board at the June SE4ALL Summit.
