Further details about funding needs

PROBLEM STATEMENT There is a huge funding gap for high impact projects in the developing world that have low commercial viability. MISSION & VISION OBJECTIVE To raise a start-up fund from the Energy Foundation to capitalize the US based operations of the Orgone Foundation. The Orgone Foundation is a Maryland based nonprofit organization whose mission is to unleash the potential of well thought out energy infrastructure solutions into commercially viable projects that will increase productivity and reduce poverty across Ghana, West Africa and subsequently all of Sub-Saharan Africa. Without radical resource innovation around power project development to lead to needed infrastructure solutions, we risk military conflict over resource access, and deepening inequity. The Orgone Foundation is a two-sided, purpose-built marketplace, connecting philanthropists on one side to promising projects on the other side. NEEDS FROM THE ENERGY FOUNDATION The Orgone Foundation is requesting $6.4 MM to cover start-up costs for the remaining 16 months of the first 24 months of its U.S. operations. This is to complement $3.2 MM (in-kind) expended on mobilization. This fund of $6.4 MM will serve as a catalytic fund that will enable the Orgone Foundation to sustain itself perpetually. OUTCOMES The Orgone Foundation will use the resources from the Energy Foundation to raise and additional $17.3 MM on its own to cover the execution of an Energy Poverty Alleviation Program (EPAP) in Ghana. The Orgone Foundation has identified 20 opportunities to provide renewable energy to schools and hospitals in Ghana through the EPAP. Ghana is experiencing a major power shortage with power available for 3 out of every 7 days. The successful completion of the EPAP will result in 4.1 MW of renewable energy generation capacity that will: directly affect 69,705 lives indirectly affect 4% or ~1,3 MM of the Ghanaian population of ~25 MM people
